Belmont... the place to be.

New to the area? You’ll find that Belmont is one of the Charlotte area’s most up-and-coming new places to live. Located in Gaston County and enjoying a high quality of life, Belmont possesses old town charm that belies its relative youth. Founded in the 1870s as a stop on the Southern Railway line, it’s still the place to be if you want to travel to uptown Charlotte, just 15 minutes away, or Charlotte/Douglas International Airport, just 10 minutes by car.

Belmont is a town that takes pride in its heritage, recently enhancing the curb appeal of its historic downtown by adding decorative, inlaid brick sidewalks, festive planters, and nostalgic iron lampposts. The downtown area’s prized attraction is tree-lined Stowe Park, an outdoor gathering spot that features a fountain that glows with colored lights at night, a walking trail, and soccer/football fields. The nearly seven-acre park is also home to the Elsie Grier Gazebo, situated in a natural amphitheater, which hosts summer movies, its annual Concert in the Park series, and GaribaldiFest in the Spring.

But Belmont’s feature attraction is nationally recognized Stowe Botanical Gardens, 450 acres of beautiful rolling meadows, woodlands and lakefront property that is being developed as part of a 40- year master plan under the direction of Geoffrey Rausch, landscape architect, who reserved the land in 1989 for a world-class botanical garden. With so much still to come, and only 110 acres currently developed, Stowe Botanical Gardens is poised to exceed its lofty expectations.
